Abstract

This research aims to analyze the application of an ecological approach to sustainable tourism development at Kedisan Village, Tegallalang, Gianyar, as well as to formulate its development strategies. This study employed a qualitative descriptive method through field observations, in-depth interviews, and documentation studies. The findings indicate that Kedisan Village has implemented several ecological practices, including natural resource preservation, sorted waste management, and environmental education programs involving both local communities and tourists. Nevertheless, key challenges persist, such as the damage to the rice terrace contours due to land cutting, vulnerability to erosion caused by reduced vegetation cover, limited accessibility, and unequal community participation in tourism economic benefits. This study recommends ecological-based strengthening strategies through landscape restoration of the terraces, capacity building of tourism village institutions, development of environmental interpretation-based attractions, and the provision of eco-friendly accessibility.
