Copyright Policy

Journal of Language, Literature, Social and Cultural Studies (JLLSCS)

1. Copyright Ownership

Authors retain full copyright ownership of their original works published in JLLSCS, without restrictions imposed by the journal on their ownership, retention, sharing, or further scholarly use of their work, subject to applicable law and any valid written agreement.

Copyright ownership is not transferred to the journal merely through submission or publication.

By publishing an article in JLLSCS, authors grant the journal a non-exclusive right to publish, reproduce, distribute, display, archive, and disseminate the work in print and electronic formats. This grant does not prevent authors from using, sharing, reproducing, distributing, or publishing their work elsewhere without restrictions imposed by JLLSCS, provided that they comply with applicable licensing terms, third-party rights, and legal requirements.

The journal may make published articles available through its official website, institutional repositories, academic databases, indexing services, and other scholarly communication platforms.

Authors retain ownership of their intellectual contributions and remain responsible for ensuring that their submitted manuscripts are original, properly attributed, and compliant with applicable copyright laws and publication ethics standards.

2. Open Access and Publication License

JLLSCS supports open-access publishing and aims to make its published articles freely accessible online without subscription fees or journal-imposed restrictions on access.

Unless otherwise specified for an individual article, JLLSCS publishes articles under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0).

Under this license, users may read, download, copy, distribute, print, share, adapt, and reuse published works for any purpose, including commercial use, without requiring additional permission from the journal or the author, provided that they comply with the applicable license terms.

Users must:

  • Give appropriate credit to the original author(s).
  • Identify the source of the original publication.
  • Provide a link to the applicable Creative Commons license.
  • Indicate whether changes have been made to the original work.
  • Avoid implying that the original authors or the journal endorse the reuse or adaptation without their permission.

The license does not transfer copyright ownership to the journal or to users. Authors retain copyright while granting the public the rights specified under the applicable license.

The full terms of the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License are available at:

3. Authors' Rights and Responsibilities

Authors retain the right to use, share, reproduce, distribute, archive, and develop their published works without restrictions imposed by JLLSCS, subject to applicable law, the relevant publication agreement, and the rights of third parties.

Authors may:

  • Share their published articles through personal websites, institutional repositories, academic networks, and other appropriate platforms without seeking additional permission from the journal.
  • Use their published work for teaching, research, presentations, and other academic activities without restrictions imposed by JLLSCS.
  • Reproduce portions or the entirety of their work in subsequent publications, books, educational materials, or other scholarly outputs, subject to appropriate attribution and applicable licensing requirements.
  • Develop their research into further scholarly publications without requiring additional permission from JLLSCS, provided that they comply with relevant copyright, citation, originality, and publication ethics requirements.
  • Deposit and distribute their published work in repositories and other scholarly communication platforms without journal-imposed embargoes or additional authorization requirements.
  • Receive appropriate acknowledgment for their intellectual contributions.

Authors are responsible for ensuring that their manuscripts do not infringe the copyright, privacy, confidentiality, or other legal rights of third parties.

Authors must disclose any relevant restrictions affecting the publication or reuse of their work and ensure that all necessary permissions have been obtained before publication where required.

4. Copyright and Third-Party Materials

Authors are responsible for identifying and obtaining permission to use third-party materials included in their manuscripts whenever permission is required by applicable law or the relevant license.

Such materials may include photographs, illustrations, maps, figures, tables, extended quotations, literary excerpts, archival documents, translations, and other copyrighted content.

Authors must provide appropriate acknowledgments, attribution statements, and credit lines for third-party materials. Evidence of permission must be supplied to the editorial office when requested.

The CC BY 4.0 license applied to a published article does not automatically extend to third-party materials expressly excluded from the license or separately identified as being subject to different terms.

Users may reuse materials covered by the article's CC BY 4.0 license without additional permission, provided that they comply with the license. Reuse of excluded third-party materials remains subject to the applicable license, permission requirements, or legal exceptions.

7. Reuse, Distribution, and Attribution

JLLSCS encourages the responsible sharing and reuse of its published research to support academic collaboration, education, and the development of knowledge across language, literature, social sciences, and cultural studies.

Materials published under CC BY 4.0 may be read, downloaded, copied, distributed, reproduced, adapted, translated, and reused for any purpose, including commercial purposes, without restrictions imposed by JLLSCS or the need to obtain additional permission from the journal, provided that the applicable license terms are respected.

When citing or reusing an article, users should provide sufficient information to identify the original work, including the author(s), article title, journal title, publication year, and DOI or URL, where available.

Users must indicate whether modifications have been made and must not misrepresent the original research, remove required attribution, or imply endorsement by the authors or journal without authorization.

Reuse of third-party materials excluded from the article's license remains subject to the applicable copyright and licensing conditions.

9. Copyright Policy and Publication Agreements

This policy should be read in conjunction with the JLLSCS Licensing Policy, Author Guidelines, Publication Ethics Policy, and applicable publication agreement.

JLLSCS does not impose additional restrictions on authors' retention of copyright, self-archiving, scholarly reuse, or redistribution of their published works beyond those expressly established by a valid written agreement, applicable license, or law.

Where an individual article is subject to a specific licensing arrangement, the license and copyright statement displayed with that article will govern its permitted reuse, subject to applicable law.

JLLSCS will clearly communicate its copyright and licensing arrangements to authors before publication and will identify the applicable license on published articles wherever practicable.

The journal will not claim copyright ownership of authors' works unless such ownership has been expressly transferred through a valid written agreement.

11. Commitment to Copyright Protection and Open Scholarship

The Journal of Language, Literature, Social and Cultural Studies (JLLSCS) is committed to protecting authors' intellectual property rights while facilitating the broad dissemination and responsible reuse of scholarly knowledge.

Authors retain copyright ownership of their original works and may use, share, distribute, archive, reproduce, and develop their published research without restrictions imposed by JLLSCS, subject to applicable law, the terms of the applicable license, and the rights of third parties.

Through this policy, JLLSCS seeks to protect authors and other copyright holders, promote proper attribution, discourage unauthorized use of intellectual property, and facilitate the open exchange of knowledge.

The journal aims to maintain transparent, consistent, and responsible copyright practices that support academic integrity and the development of scholarship in language, literature, social sciences, and cultural studies.
